The WiseBond® Ol’ No. 9 Wood Wax is a penetrating hardwood finish and polish wax – that liquefies into an oil during application – designed to add water protection. It soaks deep into the wood accentuating the natural wood color and grain, locking them in.

Ol’ No. 9 Wood Wax comes in two variations: Natural Clear and Natural Brown. Both versions will provide a transparent finish that enhances the luster and natural beauty of the wood. Whereas, Natural Brown does offer a slight brown tint which lightly darkens over time to create an antique appearance.

We do not offer samples of our products. Why not?

Our wood wax is a professional grade wood finish and polish that produces a semi-transparent, color rich, satin finish. It protects and adds hand-rubbed luster to any finished wood surface and is easy to use as a 1-coat application that waterproofs most species of hardwood, exotic and domestic.

Whether you have a wood and epoxy river table, bar top or countertop, furniture or any wood project where water protection is needed, it will not cover up the natural beauty of the wood. It is also recommended for wood furniture, antiques, woodwork, cabinets, doors, paneling and accessories that do not need a hard protective coat of polyurethane.

Simply apply it to any raw wood surface and even over epoxy such as an epoxy river table. Wipe off the excess and buff to a shine!

May be tinted with trans-oxide powders to create unique oil stains.

APPLICATION: Apply to hardwood surfaces that have been sanded between 220 - 400 grit. Keep in mind, the lower the sandpaper grit, the deeper the oil will penetrate. The higher the sandpaper grit, the smoother your wood surface will feel.

  • There is no need to mix or stir the wood wax/oil in the container.
  • Apply a thin to medium layer of wax/oil to the entire wood surface with either a clean cotton cloth, melamine foam sponge, or an electric buffer in a circular motion. (A non-woven pad can also be used if it is rated above the grit the wood has been sanded to.)
  • With a circular motion gather wax from the container on your application material – much like shoe polish. The wax will begin to liquify into an oil for application.
  • During application, always move in the direction of the wood grain in a circular motion. Friction from the application will push the oil down into the wood surface. Use your own judgement for the amount you need to apply depending on the porosity of your wood.
  • Let the wood wax/oil finish soak for 15-30 minutes before buffing off excess residue. Again, depending on your desired look, and porosity of the wood, you may let the oil sit up to 1-3 hours. Although wiping off the excess may get tougher the longer it sits.
  • Optionally, you can re-coat until your desired finish is achieved. Excess oil should be wiped off prior to a re-coat. Just wait 24 hours in between re-coats for proper penetration.
  • For epoxy and river table projects, Ol’ No. 9 Wood Wax can be applied in the same manner over the epoxy. Just use much less product over the epoxy. The epoxy will not absorb the wax/oil, but will give a beautiful sheen to the epoxy. NOTE: For a higher epoxy sheen or gloss, sand the epoxy to a much higher grit than the wood. Just use painters’ tape to protect the wood while sanding the epoxy.
  • Once you feel the wax/oil has set, use a clean (100% cotton) cloth towel to remove (wipe/buff) all of the product off the surface of the wood. Keep your removal cloth clean and replace it as needed with a fresh clean towel.
  • Once you can give the wood surface a swipe with your finger and there is no finger mark or material on your finger, the product should then be completely removed on the surface and ready to cure.
  • After your final coat and wipe off, 24 to 48 hours should pass for the surface of the wood to become dry to the touch. After 24 to 48 hours the surface is also usable however wait 3 to 5 days before exposing the wood to any liquids.
  • Future surface repairs or maintenance can be achieved with a thin re-coat. Wait 24 hours before use to allow a proper re-cure.
  • Depending on your specific region, temperature and humidity, it may take up to 1 week to be completely dry to the touch, and in some cases, possibly up to 4 weeks to be completely cured into the wood.

FOOD SAFETY: Once the wax/oil has cured 3-5 days, it is safe for incidental contact with food. It is not antimicrobial and is not safe to ingest in wax paste or liquid form. Do not cut on or prepare raw food on oiled wood surfaces.

INGREDIENTS: Ol’ No. 9 Wood Wax has a high concentration of hard waxes, perfect for a final coat to your woodworking projects. Beeswax, Carnauba Wax, Tung Oil and a few other select proprietary ingredients make it a fantastic choice for any wood worker.
