The penetrating quality of this mineral oil along with its water-resistant traits, enhanced with Vitamin E, rejuvenates and adds to the longevity of the wood. As a conditioner and moisturizer, it brings out the beauty of the wood and it naturally helps to eliminate food odors and will never go rancid or leave a sticky residue.
This natural oil also helps to repair knife marks as it protects the wood, keeping the moisture out and the mineral oil in.
To “season” a new wooden surface or utensil, apply 3-4 penetrating coats over a 24-hour period. Apply a generous amount at room temperature to allow deeper penetration. Use a clean cloth and apply in the direction of the wood grain. Let the oil soak in for at least 1-2 hours (overnight if possible), wipe off any excess not soaked in and buff the wood to a nice sheen. At a minimum of once a month (depending on use), apply a new coat to maintain luster.
