We do not offer samples of our products. Why not?

We have put a lot of effort into creating a high-quality product that meets the needs of both woodworkers and those looking to protect their wooden surfaces. The fact that it's non-toxic and food safe adds an extra layer of appeal, especially for products like cutting boards where safety is paramount.

Ol’ No. 9 Wood Wax and Polish liquefies into an oil during application, utilizing natural oils to penetrate deep into the wood grain. Suitable for any wood species, it offers a transparent finish that enhances the wood's luster and natural beauty, highlighting its color and grain.

The versatility of Ol’ No. 9 Wood Wax is impressive, being suitable for both finished and unfinished wood, as well as being compatible with epoxy applications like river tables. The ability to achieve different finishes, from satin to polished, gives users flexibility in how they want their wood surfaces to look.

Simply apply this wax to any wood surface, even over epoxy such as on an epoxy river table. Wipe off the excess and buff to a brilliant shine! For a satin finish, apply by hand, or use a machine for a polished look. This light-bodied wax has been formulated into a highly workable cream, effectively sealing the grain, providing protection, and delivering a deep, rich, natural finish.

APPLICATION: Apply to hardwood surfaces that have been sanded between 220 - 400 grit. Keep in mind, the lower the sandpaper grit, the deeper the oil will penetrate. The higher the sandpaper grit, the smoother your wood surface will feel.

  • No need to stir or mix your wood wax—it'll liquefy on application! If you prefer a creamy consistency, a quick mix in the container will do the trick.
  • Apply a thin to medium layer of wax to your entire wood surface using a clean cotton cloth, melamine foam sponge, or an electric buffer. Work in a circular motion. (You can also use a non-woven pad rated above the grit the wood has been sanded to.)
  • As you apply, the wax will transform into an oil, making it super easy to spread. Always move in the direction of the wood grain in a circular motion. The friction will push the oil deep into the wood. Adjust the amount you use based on the wood's porosity.
  • Let the wood wax soak for 15-30 minutes before buffing off the excess. Depending on your desired look and wood's porosity, you can let it sit for 1-3 hours. Just note that wiping off the excess gets tougher the longer it sits as the wax hardens.
  • For additional coats, apply until you achieve the desired wood penetration. Wipe off excess wax before recoating and wait 24 hours between coats for proper absorption.
  • For epoxy and river table projects, apply Ol’ No. 9 Wood Wax the same way over the epoxy, using less product. The epoxy won’t absorb the wax but will get a beautiful satin sheen. For a higher gloss, sand the epoxy to a finer grit than the wood. Use painter's tape to protect the wood while sanding the epoxy.
  • Once the wax has set, use a clean 100% cotton cloth to wipe and buff off the surface. Replace the cloth as needed to keep it clean.
  • Check for complete removal by swiping your finger across the surface—if there's no mark or residue, you're good to go.
  • After the final coat and wipe-off, allow 24 to 48 hours for the surface to become dry to the touch. While the surface is usable after this time, wait 3 to 5 days before exposing the wood to any liquids.
  • For future touch-ups or maintenance, apply a thin re-coat and wait 24 hours for proper curing. Depending on your region's temperature and humidity, it may take up to a week to be completely dry to the touch and up to 4 weeks to be fully cured.

FOOD SAFETY: Once the wax/oil has cured 3-5 days, it is safe for incidental contact with food. It is not antimicrobial and is not safe to ingest in wax paste or liquid form. Do not cut on or prepare raw food on oiled wood surfaces.

INGREDIENTS: Ol’ No. 9 Wood Wax has a high concentration of hard waxes, perfect for a final coat to your woodworking projects. Beeswax, Carnauba Wax, Tung Oil and a few other select proprietary ingredients make it a fantastic choice for any wood worker.
